Bruce Dunn Of Mission Pools On Serving The Community

We work almost exclusively with Mission Pools, one of California’s oldest and most reputable pool companies, and over the last 20 years have forged a strong relationship with Bruce Dunn, the owner.
Bruce has built a distinguished reputation through equal measures of success in business and benevolence. He is a notable figure within the Southern California construction industry for his award-winning company but what makes him a cut above is that he has managed a highly accomplished parallel career in addition to Mission Pools. Serving on multiple boards of directors, establishing and merging businesses, and making a significant impact on the community through his service to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater San Diego.

This past September, Beth and Parker attended the Boys & Girls Club of Greater San Diego Gala fundraiser to honor Bruce as he received the Todd Gutschow Lifetime Leadership Award for his tireless commitment to the Boys & Girls Club. A well-deserved award for his involvement since 1985 when there was only one branch. Today the organization has grown to 19 branches that engage with over 28,000 children in the San Diego County area!
Bruce’s dedication to their mission stems from a belief that the programs they offer are incredibly beneficial especially to children who haven’t had as much luck in the world and are still growing. He also has great admiration for the staff and their incredible level of dedication and passion that he has seen make a deep impact not only in the lives of youth but also in the greater community.

Bruce holds an admirable view that “benevolence begets benevolence”; people who do inspiring things often inspire others. This was no more evident than at the gala where the audience included many friends, partner businesses, and companies that Mission Pools has developed deep ties with through the years. These businesses showed their support not only through attendance but through financial contributions.

It wasn’t the first time that we have shown our support either. In 2020 when the country began to shut down Beth and Parker were months into training for a 50-mile ultra-running race. When the event was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic they were able to pivot and run their own 50-mile race in Point Loma, using the run as an opportunity to fundraise for the Boys & Girls Club which they had become familiar with because of Bruce. With the financial support of clients, friends, and family Beth and Parker were able to donate $8000 to the Boys & Girls Club!

Bruce’s final thoughts:

“Find a cause and support it with your time, money, and friends. When people are genuine and good, you want to do good for them, you are cheering for them in their endeavors.”

Here’s to you Bruce!
